Internship Opportunities

As an Intern, you will be actively working with actual clients and candidates under the supervision of the CSO and Search Consultants. You will be involved in the recruitment process with candidates on various searches, get exposure to how we work with clients directly and sit in on various strategy meetings and presentations. You will learn how to populate and use a database to effectively plan and execute local, regional and national searches. Finally, we will teach you how to qualify candidates effectively, create and present executive summaries and prepare people to interview well with our clients.

As President/CEO of The Carlisle Group (TCG) for more than two decades, Bert Wendeln

has guided the company to the very pinnacle of the search & recruitment industry. As a hands-on leader well known for his keen ability to listen, question and consult, Bert has been retained to conduct searches for a variety of companies/industries on a global scale.

Shelly A. Wendeln

COO/Co-Owner

Shelly Wendeln, a graduate of Shippensburg University (BS Chemistry), is COO/Co-owner and member of the Senior Leadership Team at The Carlisle Group as well as CEO/President of a secondary business venture, SPAtacular Escapes.

Since 1997, Shelly has performed, coordinated, and helped to define every position and procedure in each of TCG’s respective functional areas: Recruitment, Internet Research, Marketing, Website Design, IT infrastructure/networking, Software Analysis, Operations, Human Resources, Accounting, Office Building Design/Layout, and overall Business Strategies.

Tony E. Frey, CSM

Chief Sales Officer

Tony Frey, CSM, is the Chief Sales Officer at The Carlisle Group and a key member of its Executive Leadership Team. He oversees the firm’s Search Consultants, continuously refining his expertise in executive search through exposure to a wide range of challenges and scenarios. In addition, Tony leads specialized teams serving the Non-Profit, Property & Casualty Insurance, and Transportation/Transit sectors, where they excel in delivering exceptional executive search solutions.

Brian J. Schrift

Senior Search Consultant

Since joining TCG in 2006, Brian has proven that he excels in building strong client partnerships and candidate relationships. With over 20 years of combined experience in the insurance and recruitment industries and over $7 million in sales during his career at TCG, Brian understands market changes and the factors that drive them.

In 2010, he was recognized as MRI’s “Pillar of the Eastern Region,” and in 2014 and 2015, he was named the #2 Team in the Eastern Region. In 2016, Brian was named #3 in the Eastern Region and #10 globally. He is also a seven-time national MRI “Pacesetter.”

Brian has been invited as a speaker for several Mutual Insurance Company Associations’ regional conferences and has been an integral contributor at President/CEO and HR Roundtables. He is currently on the PAMIC HR Committee, as well as the VAMIC Advisory Committee and regularly consults with clients to advise them on succession planning, automation integration, and forecasting.

Adam C. Dillon

With 20 years of experience, Adam serves as an Associate Search Consultant working directly with TCG’s Chief Sales Officer.  Adam is perfectly suited for this role because of the diversity of searches performed by this team, which is broad and inclusive of all of TCG’s industry specializations.  Adam’s tenure combined with a discipline-focused approach, has enabled him to maximize process efficiencies in recruiting vertically and departmentally for a variety of companies. Steve J. Bond

Search Consultant

Steve brings 23 years of management, customer service, and consultative sales experience to TCG; enabling him to achieve considerable success placing top talent in all areas of the insurance industry. Since February of 2012, Steve has placed C-level executives, hard to find individual contributors and a number of middle management in all disciplines of the industry, including finance and accounting, within the wholesale insurance division.

Steve is part of an insurance team which has successfully placed C-suite insurance executives in the wholesale, commercial small to mid-size markets ranging from $7 mm revenue/written premium to as high as $900 mm revenue/written premium in privately owned, publicly traded, and private equity/investor owned companies, in addition to, quasi-governmental affiliated organizations and companies.

He provides a very “high-touch” approach throughout the search process – starting with developing a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s goals, objectives, culture, and working environment. Jonathan Wendeln

Director of Process Automation & Systems Integration

Jonathan is a Registered Nurse with a BS in Nursing and 9 years of clinical experience. His varying scopes of practice include Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Operating Room (OR) and Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care (CTICU) nurse. Through his experience, Jonathan has learned the roles and responsibilities needed to succeed such as time management, triage and collaboration. He understands that there is always room for improvement and has exemplified this through obtaining a certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) and climbing the clinical ladder as a charge nurse/preceptor. Margaret E. Christlieb

Director, HR & Accounting

A graduate of Shippensburg University, Margaret has been a member of the TCG team since 1997.  She began her tenure as an Account Executive, successfully developing business and recruiting within the manufacturing arena. True to her nature, Margaret had a thirst to learn more and accepted an opportunity to move behind the scenes and assume a more active role in the overall operations of the business. Josh G. Clark

Internet Researcher

Josh joined The Carlisle Group in 2013 after several years in the Convenience Store/Retail industry and in Warehousing/Distribution where he consistently exceeded his goals and objectives.

His determination and background make the ideal profile for an internet researcher at TCG, and Josh thrives on finding that “needle in a haystack” profile.

A true team player, Josh supports the Construction, General Manufacturing, Grocery Retail, and Restaurant Retail talent acquisition teams. Lucas Christlieb

Manager Accounting & Support

In 2022, Lucas joined The Carlisle Group as an Operations Project Manager, bringing experience from his previous role as an Analyst at a prominent American drugstore chain.  Initially, he played a vital role in supporting TCG’s overall business operations, working diligently behind the scenes to assist both internal and external stakeholders.
As his responsibilities expanded, Lucas gravitated toward accounting, where his keen organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail became invaluable.  His dedication and expertise earned him a promotion to Manager of Accounting & Support, a role in which he continues to excel.  A dependable and driven team member, Lucas remains committed to mastering his craft and contributing to TCG’s ongoing success.
