FLEET MANAGER

Job Description

The Carlisle Group has been retained to search for a Fleet Manager. Our client is America’s Most Admired Home Remodeling Brand®, operating in 46 markets serving 31 states. The company was founded in 2006, employs 3,000+ employees, and is generating $1.2B+ in sales. They are the leading experts in residential bathroom remodeling, window, flooring, and door replacement, specializing in a fast, easy, and convenient home remodeling experience. This position will work 5 days per week in the corporate support office located in the Mechanicsburg, PA area. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Purpose of Position:

As a Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic oversight, optimization, and lifecycle management of a fleet exceeding 1,000 vehicles. This role drives fleet forecasting, procurement, cost control, compliance, and operational efficiency while partnering cross-functionally to support rapid organizational growth. The Fleet Manager ensures the fleet is right-sized, cost-effective, safe, and aligned with company performance and branding standards.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Fleet Strategy & Planning
    • Develop and execute fleet forecasting models based on headcount, geographic expansion, and operational demand to ensure optimal fleet sizing.
    • Partner with acquisitions, integration, and operations teams to proactively plan fleet needs for new and expanding locations.
    • Evaluate and recommend vehicle types, specifications, and standardization strategies to improve efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management
    • Lead sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation with leasing companies, manufacturers, and vendors to secure favorable pricing and terms.
    • Analyze leasing vs. ownership models and make data-driven recommendations to optimize capital allocation and operating expenses.
    • Manage vendor performance, including leasing partners, maintenance providers, fuel programs, and upfitting/branding vendors.
  • Cost Management & Optimization
    • Identify and execute cost reduction initiatives across leasing, maintenance, fuel, and lifecycle management.
    • Oversee vehicle trade-in and disposal strategy to maximize residual value and minimize excess maintenance expense.
    • Monitor and control fleet-related spending against budget, providing variance analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Operations & Lifecycle Management
    • Ensure timely registration, licensing, fuel card administration, and compliance documentation across all vehicles.
    • Oversee end-to-end fleet lifecycle including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and decommissioning.
    • Coordinate vehicle branding and upfitting to maintain consistency and quality standards across the fleet.
  • Data, Systems & Reporting
    • Drive the centralization and standardization of fleet data across telematics, maintenance systems, and asset tracking platforms.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs focused on utilization, safety, maintenance performance, and cost efficiency.
    • Leverage telematics and analytics to inform decision-making and improve operational performance.
  • Safety, Risk & Compliance
    • Partner with Risk, Safety, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
    • Maintain accurate insurance records and ensure all vehicles are properly covered and documented.
    • Support and enhance fleet safety programs, including driver training and incident reduction initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Serve as the primary fleet subject matter expert across operations, warehouse, finance, and leadership teams.
    • Ensure timely communication and responsiveness to fleet-related needs across the organization.
    • Build strong cross-functional relationships to support operational execution and company growth.
  • Leadership Responsibilities
    • Lead, develop, and hold team members accountable in alignment with the company’s leadership philosophy.
    • Set clear expectations, prioritize work, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Demonstrated experience can be substituted in place of the degree.
  • Ability to travel 20%, as needed.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in the strategic oversight, optimization, and lifecycle management of a fleet exceeding 500 vehicles.
  • 5+ years of proven experience managing vendor performance, including leasing partners, maintenance providers, fuel programs, and upfitting/branding vendors within a scalable, cost-efficient fleet program that supports rapid company growth and operational demands.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment on multiple projects with changing priorities with the ability to work both on a team (as member and/or leader) and independently to deliver results.
  • Experience implementing a wide range of change management and process improvement activities, based on broader organizational goals.
  • Experience with Geotab, Samsara or similar telematic, preferred.
  • Ability to help build and manage a cohesive team that can work together under short timelines and sometimes ambiguous circumstances.
